Who We Are
Faith Church is nestled in Quarryville, a small town in bucolic Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. While our community has a rural feel, parts of it serve as a bedroom community for jobs in Lancaster, Wilmington, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
What started in 1936 as a small congregation meeting in an American Legion is now a congregation of around 230 members. Our senior pastor, Rev. Michael Brown, joined us in November 2020. In addition to Pastor Michael, our current pastoral staff is composed of one associate pastor and a youth director. Nine Ruling Elders serve on our Session and oversee the spiritual life of the entire church, assisted in ministry by three Deacons and an actively serving membership.
Throughout the 75-year history of our church we have had only five senior pastors. We have the profound gift of a wide diversity of ages. The founding pastor of our church founded a retirement community adjacent to the church, and retirees lend valuable wisdom and perspective to our congregation. The younger generations bring creative energy to our diverse ministries. Together we disciple children, youth, young adults, adults and seniors.
Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church is a member of the Susquehanna Valley Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America. As such, we are bound together with, and accountable to, nineteen other churches in the center of Pennsylvania in the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a creedal church in that we embrace the creeds held by the Christian Church from its beginnings (for example, the Apostle’s Creed and Nicene Creed). We are also a confessional church in that we ascribe to the historic confessions of the Protestant Reformation. Specifically, we take the Westminster Confession of Faith as our standard.
We believe that every member is called of God to serve in His church. In addition to our elders, deacons, and staff, our ministry teams play key roles in the life of our church. We hold one worship service (10:30-11:45 a.m.) preceded by Sunday school for all ages on Sunday mornings (9:00-10:00 a.m), and throughout the week you will find a host of ministries made possible by an active, caring and involved congregation.
