Our faith family will be equipping our parents to raise their children in the discipline and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Such a challenging job, to represent God to them, requires tools to recognize and respond to our children’s spiritual temperature, to enjoy our children in their unique gifts, and to help them engage a culture that increasingly opposes God’s way. Furthermore, as they grow, they also will be participating in the making of disciples.
As parents, we believe that the Holy Spirit can empower us to do this in spite of our failures and limitations (Proverbs 22:6). We will see how it is possible to raise our children in the Lord, to shoot them forth like arrows, straight and true (Psalms 127:4-5), to God’s call for their lives. The world’s challenges will then only strengthen them (Proverbs 9:8-9).
